A businesswoman in Serrekunda has disclosed to What’s On-Gambia that she earns thousands of Dalasi weekly by selling pills and blood to help young women fake virginity on their first night.

Describing it as a lucrative venture, she said young women, especially those who are newly married to semesters, regularly seek her assistance.

The businesswoman, who begged for anonymity, claimed her pills are highly effective in tightening the inner walls of the vagina. She also sells blood used to stain the bed sheets.

She disclosed: “Most of my clients are newly married young women. They take the pills one week before the arrival of their semester husband to tighten their vagina. On the first night itself, I usually advise them to put the blood inside their private part.”

In The Gambia, parents take immense pride in their daughters’ purity. The preservation of virginity is seen as a testament to family honor and adherence to tradition.

But to most of the ladies that go to any length to fake their virginity, it’s more than that. To them, proving virginity can attract prestigious gifts like cars, smartphones, and designer outfits.
