Since Kouthia’s video spoofing President Adama Barrow went viral, there has been a lot of talk and speculation about the reason why TFM didn’t stop him.
In an interview with What’s On-Gambia, a political pundit (who prefers to remain anonymous) claimed “there is politics in it.”
“TFM wasn’t happy when their biggest rival, 2sTV was given the exclusive rights to show live coverage of Barrow’s inauguration that happened at the stadium and watched by hundreds of thousands of Senegambians.”
He added: “Bouba Ndour and his team felt betrayed because they believe that they contributed in ousting Jammeh by giving him a bad press. I heard people like Kouthia were not happy with the way the Barrow government abandoned them.
“Bouba was here to get coverage of the inauguration. He was said to be very disappointed when he realized that the exclusive rights have been given to their rivals.”
Kouthia’s spoof video in which he portrays Barrow as an incompetent, unserious and clueless leader, has already generated more than 100,000 views on the What’s On-Gambia’s Facebook page.
Some of the Gambian leader’s supporters branded the famous comedian “disrespectful”. Facebook user, Ibrahim Munaz Bojang said he went too far.
