Opposition leader, Hon. Ousainou Darboe's daughter and her husband were allegedly denied a license by the minister of Information and Communication Infrastructure, Ebrima Sillah to operate an Internet Service Provider (ISP) company.

Darboe's daughter, Fenda, who was based in the USA, made this revelation last week Tuesday when there was an internet outage that outraged many including supporters of President Barrow.

"Gambia!!! U want reliable internet??? Well, a solution was offered but the Ministry of Information decided not to give us a license despite PURA’s approval. Now the whole of Gambia, my household is the only house that has internet. Even the highest house of the land cannot have internet all bcuz Ebrima Sillah doesn't want to give an operating license to “Lawyer Darboe’s daughter”. Am I not a Gambian citizen first?" she wrote in a Facebook post.

Fenda added: "It’s time to speak up. They are not more Gambian than we are."

One Yamsoda Lewis commented: " Fenda, once we have a UDP government you can apply for a license as things will be done via due process."

Responding to Fenda's allegations on Monday on West Coast Radio , Minister Ebrima Sillah said the decision to refuse them license was recommended by PURA.

He threatened the government will investigate how Darboe's daughter and son-in-law were able to use satellite to access the internet without approval during last week's blackout.

Minister Sillah, a former BBC reporter, was a member of the UDP and a die-hard supporter of Fenda's father. He ditched the party shortly after his appointment to join Barrow's newly-formed National People's Party.
