Dark-skinned beauty wins Face of UTG

A dark-skinned beauty has won the Face of the University of The Gambia beauty pageant.

This year’s contest took place at the Djembe Hotel in the Senegambia Strip last weekend and saw Anita Akoly Jarju took the crown in front of hundreds of people.

The ICT student, who was born and raised in Faji Kunda, was among the favorite to win and blew the judges with her eloquence.

Aminata Ceesay of the School of Social Sciences & Humanities came second in the contest, while Isatou Jaiteh of the School of Journalism and Digital Media took third place.

Face of the University of The Gambia takes place every year, involving students of the university.

The organiser wrote on Facebook: “The Djembe Hotel was jampacked and a gargantuan number of people showed up. This is an event which requires immense attention, work and dedication. Happily, our Welfare Committee and UTG Ambassadors were able to invest all their energy and time to ensure that it was done well.

“Also, we congratulate all the winners at the Face of UTG and all contestants. You're all rare gems and made everyone proud. We are grateful for your cooperation.”

Congratulations, Akoly!
