Don’t damage our tourism industry! Tourism Security Unit arrest 22 bumbsters

The officials of Tourism Security Unit (TSU) under the tutelage of The Gambia Tourism Board (GTB) have recently arrested 22 bumbsters around the Tourism Development Area (TDA) less than two months since the start of the 2015/2016 tourist season.

According to a report published by the Daily Observer, the clampdown on the bumsters is meant to bring sanity to the TDA and offer tourists a peaceful and enjoyable stay in the country.

A recent survey conducted by the GTB revealed that 73% of the tourists’ complaint about The Gambia is harassment experience from bumsters.

The Director of GTB, Abdoullah Hydara disclosed that they tried rehabilitating the bumbsters to make them skillful but to no avail. According to him, the bumsters are only interested in duping and making life miserable for people.

He appealed to the TSU to help them prevent bumsters from damaging the tourism industry, which is one of the country’s biggest sources of income.
