A heartbroken single mother has accused a man she met on Facebook of luring her into a sexual relationship with sweet promises of love, a new life in Canada, and even an iPhone 15 – only to allegedly disappear after she missed her period.
The devastated woman, who reached out to What’s On-Gambia, said she told the man from the beginning that she was raising a child alone. Instead of walking away, she claimed he showered her with affection and promised to help her relocate to Canada to continue her studies.
“I need your help. I met a man on Facebook, and after we got to know each other, I told him that I am a single mother. He claimed he loved me and promised to apply for a Canadian visa so I could go and study.
As a single mother trying to improve my life and that of my child, I trusted him. We later met in person and had sex. He also promised to buy me an iPhone 15.
Now I have missed my period, and I am worried that I may be pregnant. Since then, he has been ignoring my messages. He has stopped communicating with me.”
According to the woman, the romance quickly turned into heartbreak after their intimate encounter. She said the man has allegedly blocked or ignored her attempts to reach him, leaving her frightened and alone as she awaits confirmation of whether she is pregnant.
