Fatou Camara is once again under fire for spreading a false rumour to cause panic in the country.
In a recent Facebook post she claimed there are people going round in the Greater Banjul Area kidnapping children for rituals ahead of elections.
The post sparked a flurry of reaction in the country with some branding Fatou a “disgrace”.
“It is a big lie! How many times have you been lying? You just want to tarnish the image of the president but people here are not fools like you,” wrote one Momodou Manneh on Facebook.
Another Facebook user, Sheriff Salmina Colley commented: “Can you give the names of families whose children are missing if it is true.”
While Saikou Suso added: “This na lies. Even if they want do am. They go do it in secret and not openly. I follow you but this I can’t buy...”
In a brief telephone interview with What’s On-Gambia, the police spokesman, Inspector Foday Conta said: “It is not true!”
A police insider, who begged for anonymity, appealed to the media to refrain from spreading inaccurate information to cause panic in the country.
