The APRC political party paid tribute on Monday to five of their supporters who were killed in a road accident on Saturday (1st November) on their way to join president Jammeh, who was visiting Vision 2016 rice fields in the Central River Region.
The sad incident happened around the Sofanyama Bridge in Pakaliba. An eyewitness told the Daily Observer: “The incident occurred between 10am and 12pm. It all happened when the driver, who was at the wheel of a Nissan pick-up at a high speed, tried to avoid a police checkpoint; leading him losing control before the vehicle somersaulted. This led to the death of four people on the spot.”

The driver of the vehicle, who is said to be uninjured, is currently helping the police in their investigations.
