He is unquestionably Africa’s next big social media comedian. Baba Ja has amassed a large following on Facebook since the release of his video on the xenophobic violence that exploded in South Africa earlier this year.

One of his most recent videos, Go Ahead And Mention One More Time ISIS Is Islam, had more than one million views in less than five days.

But despite Baba Jaa being the most famous young Gambian on Facebook, there are still a few things about him that you don’t know:

He was born into a halpulaar (tukulor) family in Brikama. Baba Ja speaks three local languages.

Before leaving the country, he was very good at mobilizing funds for school development projects.

He has always been so popular, to the extent of being a household name in his native Brikama.

He is now married and expecting his first child very soon.

He paid for her mum to perform the hajj, the fifth and final pillar of Islam.
