It was an opportunity of a lifetime, one most Gambian football fans could only dream of ever having.

And this happened to be the case for journalist Modou Lamin Sultan Jammeh, who finally got to meet former Champion League star, Mark Van Bommel on Monday.

The Brikama-born was in the city of Eindhoven to meet Van, who is currently managing PSV Eindhoven, a popular team in the Eredivisie, the top tier in Dutch football.

Taking to his Facebook page, Sultan shared photos and gushed: “Today, I met my superstar, Mark Van Bommel, former Barcelona and Bayern Midfielder and current Manager of PSV Eindhoven.

“Mark is a very nice and humble legend excited to welcome me with open arms. We had a fantastic meeting.”

He thanked one Luci Van Den Kieboom for “facilitating the visit”.

The photos gathered more than 400 likes with one of Sultan’s followers, Omar Jarju commenting: “Top, top man. Van was a legend as a player and now a hero as a manager. Lucky you!”

Facebook user, Mariëlle Daemen also wrote: “ Aah, finally you met your hero in person!! Great!”
