Pierre Coron, a versatile music producer and engineer who helped musicians like Jalex, Singateh, Ranking Fire and Heart Breaka to launch their music careers, died in Oslo. He was in his 40s.
A graduate of Oslo University College, Pierre was raised in Dakar before travelling abroad. He founded Hi Tech 2000 and also started Gambia’s first music school.
The Oslo graduate played a key role in transforming the Gambian music industry to what it is today. He was one of the most admired and respected producers in the country.
Pierre was known for forging close professional relationships with artists. Gambian international reggae star, Singateh disclosed that the producer played a significant role in the early parts of his career. He offered him a scholarship to study at his music school.
