A young lady, who begged for anonymity, has revealed to What’s On-Gambia how a UK-based semester broke her heart into many pieces.

She disclosed: “He added me on Facebook on July 3, 2022, and immediately sent me a message. After a short chat, he asked for my number but I refused. We continued chatting. He told me about his life and what he does for a living in the UK.

“He said he was looking for a good girl to marry. I told him that I wasn’t ready for marriage. So things continued like that until one day he called and proposed to me that he wants to make me his wife. Since then we do chat and got used to each other a lot..”

She continued: “After a few months, he told me that he has plans to make documents for me to join him in the UK. I made it clear to him that traveling is never in my mind, especially for marital purposes. I suggested we should get to know each other better than talking about marriage and travel. He agreed and said that he will come to The Gambia purposely for that reason.

“He came on February 9, 2023. He met my mum and my entire family. It was so nice to be together with him. It then built more confidence in the relationship. After he came and we did the introduction and everything, he said there are a few things the embassy asked for when taking your fiancée to join you in the UK including a marriage certificate and a valid passport.

“He spent three weeks in The Gambia, but we only met three times. I introduced him to my aunt and a friend as well. A week before he left, he came to my house to see me and my family. We bought many gifts for him to take along when going back to the UK. I contacted him three days before his departure but he ignored my calls.

“He went back on March 1, 2023. He cut off all communications with me for reasons I still don’t know. I felt heartbroken. After a month of all the nonsense, he contacted me saying a lot of stories and blaming me. He claimed he was informed that I am not a good person. Some men aren’t good but they pretend to be anything when they want you.”

When asked whether she had sex with the semester during his holiday, she responded: “We never had sex but we once met at a lodge at OJ Junction and had one hour of chat and nice romance. I was on my period.”
So God saved me. Imagine if I had sex with him.”
