President Adama Barrow has sent his secretary general, Salimatou Touray, and others to Cuba to investigate the allegations against Ambassador Sheikh Tijan Hydara.
Hydara is accused of misconduct by embassy staff including his own deputy, Vincent Mendy.
"Salimatou and her team are right now in Cuba investigating the allegations against Hydara," said a source.
The permanent secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lang Yabou revealed to the Standard Newspaper: "We are trying to put the pieces together regarding the issue to be able to understand what exactly happened.”
But he declined to elucidate.
Salimatou and her team will also travel to Saudi Arabia to investigate a feud between Fabou Sanneh and former KMC mayor, Lie Conteh.
