This Friday all roads lead to Gambia’s Independence Stadium, where Gee will launch the much-anticipated follow up to his successful debut album That Feeling.
The outspoken and controversial rapper (the inspiration for the Situations album cover is derived from all the press he gets) will be the first Gambian artist to feature international acts on an album, as well as hosting one as a special guest at the launch. Along with local artists including Manding Morry, Jalimadi and TSmallz, Jamaican dancehall champ Demarco will be at the gig, opening up for Gee and fans expect a joint performance of their club hit Burn Up Party.
Gee is also the first artist in Gambia to be in partnership with so many sponsors for a musical event. After being the first Gambian act to join the likes of Chris Brown in being a rep for African Tech giant RLG, his album and its launch have been supported by some of the biggest businesses worldwide and in The Gambia including MoneyGram and Hotel Giants Red Croc and Ocean Bay.
Situationsalso features two Senegalese powerhouses: songstress Viviane with motivational track Loi Ragal and the highly infectious Yallah Bahna with Wally Seck.
With production from Hakim of Sunland Music - who has worked with Akon and Beenie Man to name a few – Situations is sure to surpass its predecessor, which outsold every rap album in the Gambia upon its launch back in 2012.
