She bleeds from her nose whenever she gets abdominal pain due to a rare medical condition.
According to doctors at the Edward Francis Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) in Banjul, Naffie Sanyang suffers from recurrent epistaxis, a condition that causes blood to seep from her nose.
One of her relatives, Fatou Ceesay, told What’s On-Gambia: “The problem started when she was going to school in Bakoteh. It became so bad that she had to quit school.”
She continued: “She bleeds whenever she gets a stomach-ache. The doctors at the hospital recommended that we should take her abroad for medical treatment.
“It’s really spoiling her life and that’s why we looking for help to take her abroad. We want Naffie to get her life back.”
Naffie’s ordeal began in 2010 when she became ill and blood started seeping from her nose. She was rushed to the EFSTH, where she met different doctors.
In a medical report signed by one Dr Samba Ceesay, he wrote: “She has numerous clinic and hospital visits but with unregistered improvement.”
