CONFIRMED: Gambians want sex more when it’s cold outside

Gambians want sex more when it’s cold outside, according to a senior midwife at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH).

“At the hospital, we discovered that Gambians have more sex in the cold season than they do in other periods of the year,” he told us during a telephone chat.

He added: “This is why we always have the highest number of deliveries between September to December.  Most of the maternity wards in the country are busy around that period of the year. We usually called it the peak period.”

Meanwhile, the midwife also disclosed that at the EFSTH, husbands are not allowed in delivery rooms during birth.

“We don’t allow them because of space and respect for privacy, because there could be other women giving birth in the same room.

“At Jammeh Foundation in Bundung, husbands are allowed to attend birth, because they have separate rooms for delivery.”

He also revealed many labouring women prefer the services of male midwives.
