‘I’m trying to set an example’: ENC launches new mixtape

ENC will perform at Jakarlo, Brikama Jokor and Wow Nightclub on the 13^th, 14^th and 15^th December, 2013 respectively. The gigs will celebrate the launch of the much anticipated Girl Segment mixtape. 

He told What’s On-Gambia: “Girls Segment is a club oriented dancehall mixtape consisting of songs that are aimed to rock the dance floor, the idea and inspiration came to me in Wow Nightclub where I work as a DJ/Selecta.” 

ENC is currently one of the country’s biggest dancehall artistes with hits like Nyamba Kawass and Money. He has also collaborated with Jamaican stars like Aria Morgan. 

“My aim is to take Gambian songs to the clubs. It’s very rare to hear a Gambian song in any of our clubs. As a DJ, I´m trying to set an example as I always do in the reggae scene,” he said. 

The Brikama-born star has continually been accused, by critics, of being a copycat.  He hit back, saying: “Well for critics questioning about originality, I do international style of dancehall music and I don’t sound like any other artiste. You wouldn’t listen to my song and feel another artiste in it, it’s only ME.” 

The Girl Segment mixtape, according to ENC, will find favor with reggae music enthusiasts at home and abroad. 

“I would like to tell my fans to turn out in force and make the 3-day launching a success. My fans are true believers; I share my world with them.”
