Is Barrow aware that some of his supporters are very intolerant?

The publishers of What’s On-Gambia have been warned of severe consequences if they do not stop being critical of President Adama Barrow and his coalition government.

These threats emanating from some undesirable, deplorable and intolerant elements among coalition supporters have got the publishers alarmed.

Unquestionably The Gambia’s numero uno online media outlet, which has more than 96,000 active Facebook followers with 1.6m post reached in the past 12 months, was the first to question the composition of Barrow’s cabinet, which is dominated by UDP members leaving other parties very few positions to contend with.

Obviously, this responsible journalism on What’s On-Gambia’s part didn’t go down well with some of the president’s supporters most of whom took extreme measures to silence them.

One of them in Kombo Central threatened to assassinate co-publisher, Alieu Khan any time he bumps into him.

Another ardent supporter in England, Bamba Mass also took to his Facebook alleging Khan is a die-hard APRC supporter.

According to him, What’s On-Gambia is a propaganda machine for the former president, Yahya Jammeh.

As Michelle Obama once beautifully said, “when they go low, we go high”.

Gracefully and maturely responding to the disgruntled Barrow supporters, Khan said: “We’re not stooping so low to their level of immaturity and engaging them in their web of lies. They can fabricate whatever lies they want, but that will never stop us from constructively criticising and scrutinising President Barrow’s government for the good of The Gambia, our homeland. We live in a New Gambia and they should learn to be tolerant.”

Efforts to reach Barrow’s government for comment proved futile.
