Is there a chance Imam Fatty and Imam Ba Kawsu will one day end their feud?

Despite his advancing age disadvantage, former State House Imam Abdoulie Fatty wouldn’t mind slugging it out with his arch-rival and junior, Imam Ba Kawsu Fofana, and he has no doubt who will emerge victorious in that bout.

“Even today I can beat him up”, he told Fatou Touray of Kerr Fatou in a marathon pre-recorded interview streamed on Facebook on Sunday.

The famous imam scolded Ba Kawsu for his abrasive style of preaching and lack of depth and understanding of Islam. “Could you imagine he claimed that whenever he is preaching the Holy Prophet would take a seat and be among the congregation listening to him, which he knew to be a lie”; he said, “he did things that his own father wouldn’t do. Wearing massive oversized ‘Warambas’ with yards excesses on the floor which his ignorant Talibehs are obliged to carry it wherever he goes”.

Imam Fatty went further to say he will not take nonsense from him (Ba Kawsu) anymore and whenever they meet again and he acted funny he will beat him up.

Ba Kawsu, according to Imam Fatty, is never far away from trouble. “He sparked the 3 Years Jotna into flames. Of all the Imams in this country, he was the only one talking about it and egging the Jotna movement on to execute their threats”, he charged.

The former State House imam couldn’t resist mocking Ba Kawsu’s pronunciation of Arabic words which he said even school going children can do better.

He debunked all allegations levelled against him by journalist Pa Modou Bojang as lies and malicious aimed at tarnishing his good image. He said he does not have arresting powers then or now and to suggest that he ordered Pa Modou’s arrest does not make sense.

Responding to Imam Fatty, Pa Modou wrote on Facebook “He who should seek for forgiveness from Gambians and The Gambia is now being arrogant for saying he would never forgive... in fact, who is seeking for his forgiveness?”
