It’s official! Toufa Jallow’s #IAmToufah movement is dead!

It has finally happened. The #IAmToufah movement is dead and buried.

The movement, which was established by Toufah Jallow, a former Miss July 22 winner who accused ex-President Yahya Jammeh of rape, is no more.

Now the question on everyone's lip is: what went wrong?

One of the women's rights activists who supported Toufah when she came out with her allegations against Jammeh, told What's On-Gambia: "I'm no longer part of the movement because I later discovered her accusations against the former president were fabricated."

One of the most outspoken young Gambians on social media, Dr Muhammed Teks Tekanyi last week wrote on Facebook. "What's the latest about #IAmToufah? Haven't heard about it and thought of asking for updates."

One of his followers, Dfgovernor Sanneh alleged the former beauty queen, who now lives in Canada, is a scammer.

Another Facebook user argued she should be arrested for lying to the public.

In an interview with the Guardian Newspaper earlier this year, Toufah claimed she was raped by ex-President Jammeh on the eve of Ramadan in his home village of Kanilai.
