Germany-based Gambian reggae singer-cum- promoter, King Pata has condemned the government for neglecting the country’s music industry.
Pata disclosed that The Gambia has a lot of talented young musicians but many of them are losing the passion for their career due to lack of support.
“GRTS (the national broadcaster) don’t even play local music,” he said in a live Facebook video that gathered more than 2,500 views.
According to the singer-cum-promoter, the reason why Naija Music is internationally recognised is because of the support their industry receives from the Nigerian government.
“The music industry has the potential to become a major source of income for The Gambia like how it is in Jamaica,” he said.
