King Pata tells Police: Leave the ghetto youths alone!

King Pata has called on the Brikama Police Station to release a group of young people who were arrested for marijuana possession.

The outspoken Germany-based reggae singer was responding to Commissioner Mawlud Faal of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency who told journalists on Monday that three Gambians, Paul Gomez, Abdou Tamba and Alfu Sarr were arrested by his men with suspected cannabis of over 150 -kilograms.

“Return back the weed to the owners. They need to sell it and feed their families,” Said King Pata in a live Facebook video.

He disclosed that most of the marijuana seized from young people are usually stolen by police officers to sell in the market.

“They will not burn or discard it. They will sell it to feed their families. Return the weed to them to support their families.”

King Pata continued: “You cannot make The Gambia a drug free zone when Julbrew is there brewing alcohol….you are hypocrites.”

The reggae singer is one of The Gambia’s most prominent marijuana activists.
