UDP supporter claims Diaspora Gambians are using Awa Sisay against First Lady

One of the most popular UDP supporters on social media, Bakary Jadama, popularly known as UDP Lion Jadama, has accused Diaspora Gambians of using Awa Sisay against First Lady Fatoumata Bah-Barrow.

Jadama told What’s On-Gambia: “There are people in the Diaspora using her.”

Awa is among government critics who want the First Lady to explain to Gambians how D35m “mysteriously” landed in her foundation’s bank account.

The former State House staffer is currently distributing T-shirts with the message, “Fatoumata Kodoo Lay” printed across the front.

“She’s a hypocrite,” said Jadama.

He added: “That’s was why she lost her job in the State House. She should be very careful because the disgruntled elements in the Diaspora, who are sending her money to print the T-shirts, would not be there when she lands in trouble. Awa should know better.”

When asked whether the First Lady shouldn’t be investigated for the D35m that her staff claimed was transferred into her foundation’s account without their knowledge, the UDP supporter responded: “Yes, it should be investigated. In fact, they already told the public that they are investigating it. But I think Awa and her colleagues are just being hypocrites.”

However, Jadama advised the president’s wife to avoid activities that would dent her image, saying: “After Barrow, there could be a commission of inquiry, you never know.”
