Germany-based Gambian reggae singer and promoter, King Pata has called on the government to legalise marijuana and impose a ban on the importation of alcohol.
In a recent Facebook post, the outspoken musician claimed alcohol is more dangerous than marijuana and a disturbing amount of young people are abusing it to the point of permanent damage.
One of his fans, Bubacarr Jallow agreed with him. Reacting to Pata’s post which generated a lot of likes, he wrote: “Tell them bro as they don’t know that alcohol is the most dangerous thing.”
According to Bubacarr, alcohol serves no other purpose than to get people drunk and kill innocent young people. He suggested the government should consider Pata’s call for a ban on the importation of alcohol.
Should alcohol importation be banned?
A prominent Gambian in the tourism sector argued that banning the importation of alcohol can kill tourism in the country, which could seriously cripple the Gambian economy.
