Not all Marina International students and graduates are rotten, spoiled and entitled. Here is a list of Marina products who are massively contributing to the development of The Gambia. Despite their so-called privileged up-bring and beautiful education abroad, they bravely returned home to contribute to the development of their beloved country.
Fatoumatta Sanyang
A former student of Marina, this humble, hardworking and gorgeous beauty is one of the young Gambians running things at the UNDP- Gambia.
Fatoumatta holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Law and Sustainable Development from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. After working in Europe and the Middle East, she moved back to The Gambia to contribute to the development of the country.
Chan Mendy
Chan Mendy, who studied fashion in London, is the co-founder of Ida’s Idea’s Fashion and Design Training Institute. Tough like a two-dollar steak, she is a hustler, serial entrepreneur and hard worker who never gives up chasing her dreams.
Chan set up her institute after trying for eight years. What an inspiration in persistence and hard work from this young Marina graduate.
Gibou Balla Gaye (GEE)
He is no doubt one of the top musicians in The Gambia who has contributed a lot to the socio-economic development of the country by way of his music and charity work and causes.
Kumba Mbye
Blessed with a friendly, crazy and a very happy personality, she is also a graduate of Marina International. Kumba is a state counsel at the Ministry of Justice.
She bagged a degree in Law from the University of Wales before relocating to The Gambia to do her Bar and worked as a prosecutor before becoming a state counsel.
Talib Bensouda
He is the mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council. After completing his university education in Canada, Bensouda returned home to start his own business before becoming entering politics.
