Today, we celebrate a young leader with great potential for leadership.  Ebrima Sonko stands out of the crowd as a rising star activist who has dedicated himself to championing numerous life-changing social and voluntary causes.

Ask his friends about him, they would tell you about his audacious tenacity in standing up for the rights of women and children as well as the rights of teachers to a dignified and rewarding life.

In his capacity as a member of the Executive Committee of Childfund-The Gambia and a committed member of the Brikama-based Girl’s Agenda, Ebrima is one of the leading young advocates for women and children’s rights in the country. In addition, he is the National Coordinator of a not-for-profit charity established to support teachers and teaching called Gambia Teaching Trust.

Ebrima is a soft-spoken towering giant admired by many for his charismatic leadership styles anchored on self-drive and self-motivation.  Such sterling qualities got him overwhelmingly elected as the Secretary General of the University of the Gambia Students Union.

The Brikama-born social activist is currently in the Olympic City of Sochi in Russia attending the 19th World Festival of Youths and Students, where more than 30,000 participants from all over the world are dialoguing, networking and sharing ideas on how to make the world a better place for all.
