She is young but perhaps The Gambia’s smartest policewoman of the modern era.
Chief Superintendent Sireh Jabang recently graduated with a Master’s Degree in Peace and Conflict Transformation from one of Europe’s most prestigious universities, Uppsala University in Sweden.
One of her colleagues told What’s On-Gambia: “She is one of the young officers who are contributing greatly in transforming policing in The Gambia.”
In her early 30s, Sireh holds a top position in the police force – Operation Chief for Banjul Division.
Dozens of men and women – some old enough to be either her mom or dad – work under her command. It is a job with immense responsibility.
According to her colleague, the reason behind Sireh’s success in the force is hard work, ambition and support from her family.
Over the past 10 years, policing has significantly changed in The Gambia.
Currently, the number of women in various senior posts has increased. They have proved to be very effective and contributed in improving the image of the GPF.
