The minister of Youth and Sports Bakary Badjie was recently pictured carrying a "Made in China" bag while de-boarding a flight in Kinshasa.
He was among the Gambian dignitaries who attended The Gambia's AFCON qualifier against the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which ended in a 1-0 victory in favour of the Congolese Leopards.
While most of the footballers arrived at the Kinshasa N'Djili Airport with their stuff in designer bags, Minister Badjie's choice of bag left many scratching their heads in dismay.
The budding politician carried his items in a "Made in China" bag that is used by many Serehules when visiting their home villages in the Upper River Region.
"The bag I saw in the picture is among the cheapest in the market. I don't think it is more than D500," said a source.
The source continued: "Maybe he is yet to gather enough money to buy designer bags."
A former youth leader in the Kanifing Municipality, BakaryBadjie is the youngest ministers in Barrow's government. He was appointed in September 2020.
