A Nigerian sex worker (ashawo) in Senegambia has disclosed that her customers have reduced drastically, posing a serious threat to her livelihood. 

In a TikTok video, she explained: "I am here to tell you that you guys should go patronize ashawo. Patronise ashawo!."

She continued: "I don't want to say it again. All the ashawo in The Gambia are crying that there is no money. Some of them are asking what they are going to do. Gambians don't tire us.

"Go and patronize ashawo. Don't you want ashawo to wear human hair?"

The video, which is still making the rounds on social media, gathered thousands of views on TikTok, with some users begging Gambian men to help the ashawos to stay afloat.
