Ousman Koro Ceesay’s family thanks Gambians for sympathising with them

The sister of Ousman Koro Ceesay has publicly thanked Gambians who have sympathised with them following Alagie Kanyi’s chilling revelations about her brother’s murder.

The former soldier recently confessed at the Truth, Reconciliation and Reparations Commission (TRRC) that he participated in the gruesome killing of the 33-year-old finance minister.

He disclosed Ousman Koro was beaten to death before his body and car were set on fire near Jambur village in the West Coast Region.

In a Facebook post, Ousman Koro’s sister, Dr Naffie Ceesay thanked Gambians for their unwavering support and prayers since her brother’s murder in 1995.

She wrote: “23 years ago, my only brother at age 33, was assassinated by the former Gambian government for having integrity and standing for truth and today, for the first time, one of his killers confessed during a nationally televised hearing. It became my parents’ life mission to uncover what happened. My mom and I would try to imagine what such a day would feel like.”

The US-based doctor added: “Our hearts are heavy, but we remain grateful. Gambia, we feel the love! Thank you everyone for the unwavering support and prayers from day one. Indeed, he is Gambia’s own, but we are proud to call him family.”

Naffie described her brother as a man of honour.
