Passa passa is becoming global and now its Gambia’s turn to experience this dirty-style dancing that mimics sex. Are we ready for it?
Upcoming hip hop star, Baysic and his crew are behind it. They are organizing a ‘cruise carnival’ and they want girls to come in hot pants or batty riders. Quite sexist, a feminist like Jama Jack would argue.
The Gambian party animals are seemingly in love with the idea of bringing passa passa on the Kombo Coastal Road. The organizers said: “We all know the erotic sessions drag attention and that's what we need. We need the people to notice our presence and believe in our potentials that we wish to display on that day.â€
They went further to say: “Passa passa is a way of dancing. We may have a different point of view of how it is performed. We understand what the Jamaican passa passa is and it’s obvious we can't perform it the way they do. Passa passa is just a normal dancing party.â€
The carnival is scheduled for 29th June, 2013. It will start at the Elton Petrol Station in Kotu and then end at the Poco Loco beach, where the girls are expected to show lot of skin and whine to the sexually motivated lyrics of Vybz Kartel, Busy Signal, Mavado, Mr.Vegas and other Jamaican artists.
