The new National Assembly member (NAM) for Sabach Sanjal, Hon. Alagie Babou Ceesay is a former backway boy, who was living in Germany.

A source close to the budding politician revealed to What's On-Gambia: "He stole his uncle's car in Sinchu and disappeared to Europe via the back way."

According to our source, Hon. Ceesay arrived in Europa through the Italian island of Lampedusa after spending weeks in Libya before crossing the Mediterranean Sea.

The Sabach Sanjal-born later moved to Germany to seek asylum.

"He was dating a German woman and they came together to The Gambia for their wedding: I don't know what happened later, but the woman left him behind," said our source.

Hon. Ceesay was one of the many independent candidates in the recently held National Assembly election. He defeated NRP's Ousman Touray.
