Saikou’s last wish before his death was to see a new Gambia under Halifa Sallah

A UK-based PDOIS supporter, Saihou Jabbi died on Saturday following a short battle with cancer.

One of his friends, Madeline Mendy, disclosed on her Facebook that one of Saikou's last wishes "was to live till December 5th to witness a PDOIS government."

She wrote: "Saikou Jabbi had asked for only prayer and that no GoFundMe be set up in his name if he passes on. He knew we are generous. His other wish was to live till December 5th to witness a PDOIS government. Rest in Peace."

Paying tribute to his late comrade, PDOIS youth leader Kexx Sanneh wrote: "Saikou Jabbi is no more. The journey of this good and gentle soul is no more. My lips are still sealed in lamentation. Is this a dream? This loss is more than a shock. Comrade Saikou was a humble man with a tender heart. He valued friendship and served humanity with dignity.

”The Gambia and PDOIS have lost an outstanding alumnus of profound intelligence and unmatched innovation."

Kexx added that Saikou's enviable support for PDOIS will forever remain undeniable evidence of his love for a better Gambia.

"This misfortune is more than a blow to Gambia and PDOIS. My earnest sympathy to Jabbi family. May Allah grant him the highest place in Jannatul Firdaus," he said.

Saikou will be buried today in the UK.
