A shocked eyewitness has given a terrifying account of how a 14-year-student was stabbed to death during a fight over a girl at a school concert headlining rapper ST.
Sulayman Sanneh was allegedly stabbed in the neck late on Friday outside the main hall of Kinderdorf Bottrop Technical Junior/Senior School in Brikama.
A Brikama Police insider confirmed the incident and said the suspect - also a teenager - was under their custody.
Speaking to What’s On-Gambia on the incident, the eyewitness who did not want to be named said he was among the volunteers who tried to help the victim after he was stabbed.
“One of the volunteers’ shirts was completely soaked in blood. We tried our best to save his life,” he said.
He died while he was being taken to the Brikama District Hospital, the eyewitness added.
Meanwhile, it was reported that the suspect threw the knife he used to murder his victim in a classroom and fled the scene.
He was later apprehended after hours of manhunt.
The concert was organised by teachers to raise funds for one of the school’s clubs.
There has been unconfirmed reports that rapper ST cancelled his performance after news of the stabbing broke. The matter is said to be under investigation.
