A Sierra Leonean woman, who moved to The Gambia 12 years ago, has appealed to Gambians to stop calling West African nationals in the country "fucking foreigners".
"It's disgusting, discriminatory, and wrong on all levels," she said.
The woman added: "Some Gambians need to learn how to co-exist with other West African nationalities. There is no country in the world that doesn’t have foreigners and yes every foreigner has their own good and bad experiences but that “fucking foreigner” phrase has to go considering how kind, law-abiding and hardworking some foreigners are."
She disclosed: "I’m a struggling single mother but trust me I’ll give my last penny to help others and I’ve been doing that for years."
According to her, she was recently threatened with a knife by a Gambian woman at a parking space in Sanchaba Sulay Jobe.
" I’m a Sierra Leonean who came here to get away from a troubled childhood experience seeking peace. It’s been hard but I’m finally getting there and trying to be content with life. But now it seems like it’s a crime being a foreign national in The Gambia," she said.
But she added: "I have a lot of Gambian friends and Gambian people that I look up to, admire and get motivated and inspired just to be clear."
