Football star Steve Trawally has become the latest celebrity to spend thousands of Dalasis on a dog, while some of his neighbours are struggling to get enough food to eat.

The dog recently gatecrashed his interview with Star TV. The journalists were at Steve’s house to find out more about his temporal exclusion from the national team. As the interview was about to start, his new pet bounded on to the set.

Jumping on him, the China-based footballer explained the dog’s excitable personality by saying: “He must come here.”

In the interview, Steve argued that The Gambia needs a better coach, who would make independent decisions.

“It’s a big disappointment I am not in the national team because every footballer's dream is to play for your country. My dream is to continue playing for my country.”

He continued: “It is normal that players get dropped from their national teams. But I think my case is different.”

He revealed the coach Tom Saintfiet never contacted him since his appointment in July 2018.
