University of The Gambia (UTG) student, Yama Barrow has embraced the hijab after having a ‘holy dream’ according to information reaching What’s On-Gambia.
A source close to Yama said: “She now wears the hijab whenever she leaves home and prays regularly. I heard she had a dream, and the next day she decided to cover up.”
The UTG student’s conversion from party girl to hijab-wearing sister has raised a few eyebrows. But she said on Facebook: “ May Allah be with us all, and change the hearts to a golden one. Alhamdullilah:”
Yama became a hijabi on the 25th May, just few hours after attending Bai Babu’s concert at Jakarlo, Senegambia. She was dressed in batty riders leaving very little to the imagination.
A friend, who begged for anonymity, told What’s On-Gambia: “Yama is very hardworking, and soon she is graduating with a degree. Her problem was peer group pressure. She was hanging with the wrong people.”
Young girls are now embracing the hijab, and some of them are even taking extra Islamic classes to better understand their faith.
Few months ago, Aisha Faal also dumped modeling to become a hijabi. She is now a devout Muslim.
May Allah guide them!
