The survival struggle of a single mother with seven children

Musukebba Saidykhan’s story is heartbreaking. Her husband died last year in a serious car accident. So much has happened since then.

She’s the mother of seven children (six girls and one boy). Some of them are attending primary school in Sinchu Baliya in the West Coast Region.

Since her husband’s sudden death, life has been very difficult for Musukebba.

She said: “My family abandoned me after they fought long and hard against my marriage to my late husband, who was a Senegalese migrant.”

She added: “I have no one to help me. Only me and my seven children.”

More disturbing is the fact that poverty is beginning to take its toll on Musukebba and her children. They live in an old, dilapidated house in Sinchu Baliya.

The single mum’s health is deteriorating as she spends most of her time taking care of the children. She is paralysed in one leg, yet has not even been to the hospital to seek treatment.

Please help Musukebba if you can. You cannot imagine the difference even a couple of dalasi can make. You will be helping to lift a single mum and her seven children out of extreme poverty, illness and despair.
