Turkish Airlines to start twice-weekly flights to Gambia

Turkish Airlines (THY), the national airline of Turkey and a member of the Star Alliance, has finalized preparations to launch new flight services to Banjul from November 26, 2018.

“Turkish Airlines from late-November 2018 is adding service to Banjul, with the offering of Istanbul – Dakar – Banjul – Istanbul triangle routing. From 26NOV18, Boeing 737-900ER will operate this route twice a week, and one of 2 weekly flights will switch to 737 MAX 8 from 01FEB19,” the airline company said in a statement.

The Turkish ambassador to The Gambia, Ismail Sefa Yuceer said the new flight services will not only increase people to people interaction and business relationship between Turkey and The Gambia but also further connect The Gambia through the hub of Istanbul with the rest of the world.

Many Gambians in the Diaspora are hoping that Turkish airlines will offer fares that are lower than those currently in the marketplace.
