If all goes as planned, a new Gambian TV series on illegal migration, locally known as ‘back way’, will soon be released.
Shadow, with its gripping story about young people risking their lives to reach Europe in search of better opportunities, is expected to strike a chord with many Gambians.
Since the release of the trailer online, the response from fans has been overwhelming. Former Miss Gambia-USA, Yassin Faal described Shadows as an impressive piece of work.
The producers are two young Gambians, Mariama Colley and Christopher Tijan Smith. According to them, the series explores the theme of illegal migration focusing on how it affects families.
Mariama said: “I believe Shadows would go a long way, showcasing some of the reasons why young people embark on the back way journey.”
According to her, they are looking for sponsors to release the series.
“Production is expensive and we can't do it alone. Since we producing a series, having sponsors to support the project would be highly needed to make it a success,” she said.
