VP Isatou Touray’s relative wanted for diplomatic passport fraud

One of the boys brought to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by Vice President Isatou Touray has absconded to the USA to avoid arrest for his alleged involvement in the sale of diplomatic passports.

Ousman Touray is among the protocol officers who are wanted by the police for allegedly selling diplomatic passports to foreigners.

An insider at the ministry disclosed: "He was in the USA on a course, but when he heard his name among those wanted, he decided not to return home."

Ousman, who was employed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs shortly after the 2016 presidential election, is now an illegal migrant in the USA.

He is said to be a relative of the Vice President and was living at the Vice President's official residence.

How much did Ousman pocket from the passport fraud?

This is still unknown, but sources close to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Gambia Immigration Department revealed it could be more than D1m.

Meanwhile, President Adama Barrow is said to have instructed a full investigation to end the selling of Gambian diplomatic passports to foreigners including Eastern Europeans.
