An explicit audio recording of a telephone conversation between the chairman of the Brikama Area Council, Sheriffo Sonko and a female councilor was leaked yesterday, which went viral on social media platforms.

In the audio, the politician was heard telling the woman that she is among the "sweetest jeggs" in the country.

The councillor of Gunjur ward Momodou Charreh Gibba yesterday called on Sheriffo Sonko to resign immediately arguing "the Office of Chairman of Brikama Area Council is an honorable Office that deserves and commands huge respect and high integrity".

In an open letter that was posted on Facebook, Gibba wrote. "We, as honorable Councilors, are very much concerned and disturbed by this scandalous revelation - the manner, behavior and conduct of these people by using the Office and the "travel" programs of Council in exchange of their sexual desires. We cannot ignore this irresponsible behavior because the reputation of Brikama Area Council is grossly damaged."

But some of Sheriffo Sonko's friends in the National People's Party condemned the leak and advised him to ignore the ”haters”.

UK-based NPP heavyweight, Nima Kinteh wrote on her Facebook: "Stop your evilness because Sheriffo has a personal and private life. Sheriffo Sonko is here to stay."

The Brikama Area Council chairman is married to four wives.
