Sarata is the latest movie in the Gambian media production industry. It is written and directed by award winning director, Ibraheem Cessay.
The world premiere of the movie is on the 2nd May, 2014 at the Pencha Mi Hall, Paradise Suites Hotel. A good number of local celebrities are expected to attend as special guests. Roll out the red carpet!
A member of the production team Nuha Fadera said: "I've been lucky and proud to be part of the production and believe me- THIS WILL RAISE THE BAR! Ibraheem Ceesay's translation of an unusual script was incredible. The team was brilliant and the visual is plainly stunning. You cannot possibly miss out on this one."
He added: " The work has been done and its now your turn to SUPPORT. An Industry is never constructively built from the outside. It’s done from the inside. Tell a friend and lets all be part of it. It’s going international. Be the first to see it in MAY."
Sarata is a story based on deceit, love, betrayal and challenges faced by young women, in an attempt to better their lives. Sarata is a young, beautiful well brought-up village girl in love with a young man Abdou. With the unpredictable situations of life, as an orphan, she moved to the city for a better life and found herself in a concrete jungle.
The popular international actors and actresses in the film include Lamin Tamba, Vivi Amie Chris, Sheikh Omar Sawaneh, John Charles Njie and Monica Davies. Fatima Jabbe Maada Bio, who is also starring in the film, is a Nollywood and African films critics award winner.
The coming of Sarata also saw the launch of new faces in the movie industry. Ida Bidwell, who rose to fame with the TV show Banjul Nightlive, is one of supporting actresses. She cried a lot in the film.
