A group of young Gambians have announced the launch of a charity called Teaching Award Trust- The Gambia.
The founder and chairman of the charity, Alasan Ceesay said: “Teaching Award Trust-The Gambia was established as a means of appreciating, recognizing and celebrating the work of teachers, and also excellence in education.”
In December 2015, they will be giving out awards accompanied by money to teachers from different regions in the country.
“We want to reward teachers who go above and beyond for their students. Teachers who are role models for the profession,” added Alasan, who lives in England.
Other members of the charity include Fatoumatta Ndure, Singateh, Nfally Fadera and Gibairu Janneh.
