A young mother has died at her last child's naming ceremony.

Jali Kumba Jaiteh fell ill suddenly while socialising with friends, relatives and neighbours in Mandinaring, Kombo North.

"Everyone was devastated. It was hard to believe that she died. The ceremony was going well but then she took ill and was rushed to the hospital. She died on the way," said a family friend.

A large group of people were in Mandinaring enjoying the naming ceremony.

It's understood that Jali Kumba was a Nigeria-trained nurse, who was working in the public health sector.
