A young taxi driver in Upper River Region has been arrested by the police for allegedly defiling his 15-year-old girlfriend, reported the Daily Observer.
The Police Commissioner of the region Alhaji Kemeta Sambou confirmed his arrest, disclosing that investigation is ongoing “to enable them get to the root of the incident.”
Sambou said the 20-year-old was dating the girl and they started having sex late last year. Her family came to know about it on the 1st January after she went out without their notice.
According to him, the 15-year-old returned home late in time. When questioned by her parents, she confessed to having an intimate relationship with the suspect.
The matter was reported to the Basse police and the boyfriend was arrested immediately. It is not yet confirmed whether the family will lay charges against him.
