A soldier from the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) has allegedly assaulted his wife, who is also a soldier, after discovering her alleged affair with a member of the ECOWAS Mission in The Gambia (ECOMIG).
According to a source, the woman and the ECOMIG soldier were reportedly caught in a compromising situation. Upon learning of the incident, the GAF soldier reacted violently, allegedly beating his wife and threatening to end their marriage.
A source disclosed that the soldier was subsequently arrested and briefly detained by the police before the case was transferred to the Military Police for further investigation and possible disciplinary action.
The ECOMIG soldier, said to be of Senegalese nationality, was not arrested. It remains unclear whether the incident was reported to ECOMIG headquarters.
