Following her much-anticipated return to the music scene after years of hiatus, one of The Gambia’s most popular female dancehall stars, Tanga Cham, is set to launch her new album titled Jambarro.
The album launch concert is scheduled for January 3, 2026, at the Serrekunda East Mini-Stadium. However, the date coincides with another major event – a live performance by Jamaican dancehall sensation Busy Signal at the Trade Fair Grounds, near the Brusubi Turntable.
The clash has sparked debate among Gambian music lovers. Some fans have called for a boycott of Busy Signal’s concert, arguing that it is unfair to host an international artist on the same night a prominent Gambian musician is holding her comeback show.
It remains unclear whether the organizers of Busy Signal’s concert will consider rescheduling their event, as both parties have already started promoting their shows.
The situation has reignited calls for the National Center for Arts and Culture (NCAC) to play a more active role in coordinating the national entertainment calendar, especially during the busy holiday season when the influx of foreign artists often overshadows local talent.
