Gambian musician Nyancho is enjoying a major surge in popularity following the release of his politically charged music video, “Wulolu.”
Released on YouTube just one month ago, the video has already surpassed one million views, making it one of the fastest-viewed music videos in recent Gambian music history.
“Wulolu” addresses issues of corruption, economic hardship, and the challenges faced by ordinary Gambians. With its strong political message, the song is increasingly being viewed as a potential anthem for opposition supporters ahead of the country’s upcoming presidential campaign.
Nyancho leaves for the UK amid rumours
Shortly after releasing “Wulolu,” Nyancho travelled to the United Kingdom.
His trip has sparked rumours online that the singer could face questioning if and when he returns to The Gambia. There has, however, been no official confirmation that authorities intend to question or summon him.
The speculation has nevertheless added another layer to the growing controversy surrounding his music.

If anyone thought Nyancho was about to tone things down, his latest release suggests otherwise.
The singer this week dropped another music video, “Duwulo,” in which he continues his criticism of corruption and references several high-profile cases that he claims were swept under the carpet.
The release has once again put Nyancho in the spotlight and sparked fresh conversations across social media.
