Alliance Francaise’s Director General bids farewell to The Gambia

The Director General of Alliance Francaise has bid farewell to his Gambian friends on Saturday at a ceremony held at the Alliance ground along the Kairaba Avenue.

Born in France, Mr. Dieder Martins’ duties came to an end last week after overseeing the activities of Alliance Francaise for four years. He is now returning back to France.

Gambian artist are not happy about this development, because Mr. Martins played a significant role in their careers.

“It’s difficult to find a white man who is so open like Mr. Martins,’’ rapper Killa Ace jokingly said. He added that the music industry will feel his absence.

Bai Babou, Mighty Joe, Jerreh Jizzle and few other artists who spoke to What’s On-Gambia expressed similar sentiments.

“I actually don’t want to go but I have to, Gambia is a beautiful country and the people are nice. I wish I can continue working with the artists, but Alliance will be here for people to utilize it to the fullest,” said Mr. Martins.
